Install and make your first connection on Linux

Choose a package format for your distribution, then configure the permissions required for execution, the system proxy, or TUN.

01

Choose a format for your distribution

Prefer DEB on Ubuntu and Debian, and RPM on Fedora and RHEL-based systems. Choose AppImage only if the project Release provides it. Also check the processor architecture, such as x86_64 or ARM64.

02

Install and check dependencies

Install a DEB or RPM through your distribution's package manager so it can resolve dependencies. Grant execute permission before launching an AppImage for the first time, and run only commands explicitly required by the project documentation.

03

Configure proxy or service mode

On a desktop, enable the system proxy first to verify connectivity. For TUN, systemd, or a headless service, follow the client's instructions for permissions, routing, DNS, and startup configuration.

Linux download and installation FAQs

Focus on the distribution package format, processor architecture, dependencies, and permissions for TUN or service mode.

Ubuntu, Debian, and their derivatives generally use DEB; Fedora and RHEL-based systems generally use RPM. Use AppImage for portable operation when the project provides it. Follow the support information in the project Release.
