DNS and Resolution FAQ
Do some domains fail to resolve, sites fail to open, or DNS tests show unexpected results? Identify where resolution requests go, then check fake-ip, redir-host, IPv6, fallback, and nameserver-policy.
First identify who resolves the domain
System DNS, browser DoH, Clash DNS, and TUN hijacking can all affect the final result.
What If DNS Leaks, Resolution Fails, or Some Websites Will Not Open?DNS problems often appear as a working node but unreachable domain names, traffic matching the wrong rule, or a test page reporting an unexpected DNS server. How Should I Choose Between fake-ip and redir-host?fake-ip improves domain mapping and rule handling with virtual addresses; redir-host follows traditional resolution. Choose by client, TUN mode, app compatibility, and template. How Should I Configure IPv6, fallback DNS, and nameserver-policy Reliably?IPv6 and fallback affect DNS, routing, and rule matches. Enable each only after testing the current network; avoid unstable IPv6 and use nameserver-policy for exceptions.
